About the Author
William J Stevenson
Associate professor of Decision Sciences in the College of Business at Rochester Institute of Technology. He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in operations management and management science. Dr. Stevenson is the author of textbooks in management science, statistics, and operations management. His articles have appeared in Management Science, Decision Sciences, Quality Progress, and other journals. He received a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, an MBA, and a Ph.D. in production/operations management, from Syracuse University.
Thomas Kull
Thomas J. Kull is a professor of supply chain management at the W. P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University. He received his PhD in Operations and Sourcing Management at Michigan State University in 2007 after having over 13 years of industry experience in operations and supply chain executive roles. Professor Kull's research interests include socio-technical challenges and strategic risks in operations and supply chains. With over 30 publications in leading academic journals and over 100 presentations at national and international conferences, Professor Kull has co-authored a book on cultural implications of lean manufacturing and is principal inventor of six innovative operations and supply chain learning simulations, including a mobile app to teach supply chain principles to health workers in Africa. Professor Kull's work, along with his doctoral students and co-authors, has been published in premier, academic journals, including the Journal of Operations Management, Production and Operations Management, Journal of Business Logistics, and Decision Sciences. Having served in editorial leadership positions at five premier journals, he is a current/past member of the Decisions Sciences Institute, Academy of Management, and the Production Operations Management Society. Professor Kull has served numerous leadership roles in academia, including President of the Global Manufacturing Research Group, Department Chair at Arizona State University, and Chair of Research for the Decision Science Institute’s annual conference. He has been commended for his contributions to academia, a recent example being awarded inaugural winner of the GLOBE Robert J. House Best Research Paper Award.
