Virtual Care Package
The school community, with its procedures and structure, is full of busy teaching days and tracking progress—but is it full of kindness? Are we taking time to slow down and notice what others are feeling and needing?
Kindness is defined as having qualities of generosity, helpfulness, and consideration—yet it’s so much more. Kindness contains multitudes, it comes in all shapes and can be expressed in many ways: a smile, an encouraging text, or taking time outside of school to help others. And it’s inherently creative. We can all use our creativity, talents, and authentic selves to create and express kindness. There is no limit to all the ways you can be kind!
Big or small, these acts change the trajectory of another person’s day and lift them to a place they could not be without the kindness extended by you. In this way, kindness truly connects us all. It’s something we all have—and it’s something we all can do to make a difference every day.
Did you know spreading kindness will have a positive impact on you, too? Being kind releases oxytocin and serotonin into your system which will make you feel happy and less anxious. Kindness is good for everyone!
With all the challenges you face daily, it can be difficult to focus on kindness. Now more than ever we need to be considerate of our differences, focus on what connects us, and create a culture of kindness. We all benefit by shaping kindness together—creating kind classrooms, kind schools, and kind communities.
To support you with discussions about kindness, we have created a Kindness Virtual Care Package to share with students. These materials will encourage regular engagement in kindness-centered activities which will help foster reflection and conversation.
We hope these resources encourage you to spread kindness in both simple and profound ways. Alone, this task may seem big, but together we can make a difference in shaping kindness.
