About the Author

Katherine Denniston

Kate Denniston is a biochemist in the Biology Dept. of Towson State University.  At Towson, she has been honored with such awards as the "Outstanding Faculty Award" and the "Faculty Merit Award".  Her previous employment record is literally a list of some of the best biochemistry institutions in the world: Univ. of Wisconsin as a post-doc, Georgetown University School of Medicine  as research professor, National Cancer Institute as a Senior Staff Fellow, the Argonee National laboratory in their research program, and as an Invited Instructor by the European Molecular Biology Organization.  She has written for such noteworthy publications as Nature, Science.  

Danae Quirk

Dr. Danaè Quirk Dorr, Professor of Chemistry at Minnesota State University, Mankato, has been active in co-facilitating flipped classroom and team-based learning workshops for faculty through the schools’ Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning. Dr. Quirk Dorr completed her undergraduate work at the College of St. Scholastica (Biochemistry and Biology), her doctoral work at the University of Minnesota (Medicinal Chemistry), and her post-graduate work at the Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota. She is currently serving as chair of the Education Committee of the Minnesota Section of the American Chemical Society and is an Associate Member of the ACS Committee on Education. Dr. Quirk Dorr is actively conducting research within the field of chemical education with special focus on technology in learning environments.

Joseph Topping

Joe Topping currently is a professor of analytical chemistry at Towson State University.  He did his post-doc at Iowa State Univeristy in Ames.  At Towson, he has been honored with such awards as the "Outstanding Faculty Award" and the "Faculty Merit Award".  He has written ancillaries for an outstanding text, Atkins - General Chemistry and is heavily involved with the American Chemical Society.  

Robert Caret

Bob Caret is currently Provost and Executive Vice President of Towson State University and an associate professor of chemistry.  He has written an Organic Chemistry text previously.  Professor Caret's Focus in the textbook is in organic chemistry.
