The results in this report show that Open Court schools outgain Non-Open Court comparison schools by 50 to 75 percent [19 points vs 12 points for grade 2, 13 points vs 7 points for grade 3] based on 3-year gain scores involving about 300 schools. The largest differences involve schools serving concentrations of Low Socio-Economic Status students, where the differences over 3 years are most impressive [23 point gains for Open Court schools compared to 9 point gains for Non-Open Court schools]. Based on 1-year gains for more than 700 schools, Open Court schools outgain Non-Open Court comparison schools by a factor of four [5.2 points vs 1.2 points for grade 2].
