Student Tips: How to Juggle Multiple Final Exams While Maintaining Your Well-Being

Taking multiple final exams is stressful and time-consuming. As a graduate student, I have had to face this challenge multiple times and have figured out the best ways to manage stress, stay organized, and prioritize self-care!

Finals can make you feel like you are unable to manage your stress levels because they are through the roof! However, this is NOT true. You CAN do it! Managing your stress seems like a daunting task, but I’ve made it easier. To manage your stress, the most important thing to do is manage your time. The simplest way you can do this is to create a time-blocked schedule for your day. I create a quick schedule and list of tasks of what I need to do the night before. This way, I can go to sleep without worrying I might forget about something. It also helps so that I know what my plan is for the next day, so I can wake up feeling prepared! Block out time for studying for one specific final exam and remember to schedule a break after this. Repeat this time-block strategy for every exam or course you need to study for. Creating designated time blocks for studying with multiple final exams will help keep you organized and on track. Time management is key for managing your stress!

Organization tools are essential if you want to manage stress and stay organized. Planners, notes, lists, and schedules can help you stay organized and make sure you don’t forget any tasks! Staying organized will help you reduce your stress levels, as well.

Lastly, don’t forget to practice self-care especially when you are stressed-out due to multiple final exams. Here are my top 3 tips:

  1. Make sure to get 8 hours of sleep.
  2. Stay hydrated and fueled with food.
  3. Make time to relax and get your mind off courses and exams.

Finals week is stressful, but you can do it!
