Hey there! Whether you're looking for your next go-to study space or just curious how others made the most of their campus, I’m excited to share some of the places that helped me get through college—one quiz, group project, and finals week at a time.
Everyone’s study vibe is different, but for me, finding the right spot made a big difference in how focused, motivated, and at ease I felt. Some days I needed total silence, other days a little background buzz helped. And honestly? Switching things up kept things fresh.
I learned that different environments sparked different moods and energy levels. If I had a super productive session somewhere, I’d usually return. And if a space helped me feel calm, safe, or relaxed—especially on more stressful days—I’d keep it in my mental list of “go-to spots.”
Here are some of my favorites:
The Library Quiet Floor
My ultimate spot for test prep or deep-focus days. The silence was golden, and the individual cubbies helped me tune out everything else.
Bonus spot: One of my secret favorites was a small table tucked in a corner near the third-floor library classrooms. It had just two chairs, a window for natural light, and was almost always empty. I’d sit there with a snack or soft music playing and could get so much done. It felt like my own little productivity bubble.
The Grass Benches Outside
Fresh air + nature sounds = instant mood boost. I loved sitting on the benches around campus, especially by the quad, where I could soak in the breeze and background chatter. It somehow made even the most boring readings a little more bearable.
The Multicultural Center Patio
This one was a hidden gem. It had a calm atmosphere, fewer people, and bonus—access to essentials like printers, scantrons, and even a microwave inside. At first, I felt a little awkward going in, but it quickly became one of my favorite low-key places to focus and just be.
College of Business Student Office Space
This was a lifesaver between classes. With computers, snacks, charging outlets, and a microwave all in one place, it was super convenient. Plus, I liked being surrounded by other students—it made me feel safe and supported while studying.
The Secret Garden Under the Library
Okay, not exactly a study space, but definitely a mental reset one. It was a small, peaceful garden tucked away under the library—a perfect spot for breaks. Being surrounded by nature and stillness helped me breathe, reset, and come back to my work with a clearer head.
My Study Table at Home
Let’s be real—some of my best work happened at home. My study table was my cozy, focused zone, especially in the evenings when I had time to fully settle in. It felt good to be in a safe, familiar space where I could power through assignments without distractions.
My Study Rituals
No matter where I studied, I had a few go-to habits that helped:
Cleaning my area before and after (a tidy space = a tidy brain)
Playing instrumental or lo-fi music to stay focused
Keeping a small snack nearby (energy bars were a must)
Using headphones to block distractions
Taking advantage of time between classes to get little tasks done
If You’re Still Exploring Your Spot…
Walk around campus and try different locations. See what fits your vibe. Maybe you thrive in a buzzing coffee shop or prefer a quiet study nook. Check out student spaces in your department building—they’re often overlooked! You’ll eventually find places that feel just right.
Bonus Mini Challenge:
Make a quick “Study Spot Checklist” for yourself this semester:
Is it quiet enough (or just the right amount of noise)?
Are there outlets nearby?
Can I stay here for at least 30–60 minutes without distractions?
Do I feel safe and comfortable here?
Can I return to this space regularly?
Try out new spots during the first few weeks and see what clicks. You might be surprised which ones become your favorites.
Having a solid study space—whether it’s peaceful, practical, or somewhere that simply makes you feel good—can make all the difference in your college experience. Happy studying!
