Success on Many Measures: Abington School District

Abington School District has consistently ranked among Pennsylvania's highest-performing districts on the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) since adopting Everyday Mathematics, with 54% of Grade 5 students achieving the Advanced performance level and another 28% reaching Proficient, and several schools earning Blue Ribbon recognition for academic excellence. Abington School District, a diverse suburban district outside Philadelphia serving approximately 7,500 students, was an early adopter of the program, beginning with a Kindergarten pilot and expanding districtwide through Grade 6; the phased implementation emphasized extensive teacher leadership, professional development, and a network of teacher trainers who supported colleagues throughout adoption.
