Description

ALEKS, a web-based adaptive learning system, was implemented at RCMA Wimauma Academy and Leadership Academy, charter schools in Florida, serving grades 3–8. The program assesses student knowledge and readiness for new topics through adaptive questioning and provides targeted instruction.

The study tracked performance across nine math courses, analyzing state summative assessments and knowledge gains within ALEKS. Students using ALEKS for more than 30 hours increased their knowledge scores by an average of 44 percentage points, compared to 22 points for those with less than 30 hours. Grade 3 students achieved 100% proficiency in math on state exams, and overall results showed consistent improvement across all grades. The study highlights the effectiveness of ALEKS in improving math proficiency, with strong correlations between program engagement and academic performance.</p>
