Description

Grade 5 mathematics performance on Oklahoma's Criterion-Referenced Test rose from 84% to 92% of students scoring at the Satisfactory or Advanced levels after Union Public Schools implemented Everyday Mathematics districtwide — a gain achieved despite a growing and increasingly diverse student population. Union Public Schools, serving more than 14,650 students near Tulsa, adopted the program after a successful pilot to address changing demographics and strengthen elementary mathematics achievement, drawn to its emphasis on distributed practice, conceptual understanding, multiple problem-solving strategies, and number sense.
