96.8% of Grade 5 students in Montgomery Area School District — including special education students — met or exceeded proficiency on the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment, compared with 69% statewide, and students also significantly outperformed state averages in middle and high school mathematics. Montgomery Area School District, a rural district serving approximately 1,000 students, implemented Everyday Mathematics and built a strong mathematics program centered on instructional consistency, ongoing assessment, and differentiated instruction, with teachers devoting substantial daily instructional time to mathematics and providing intervention using the same curriculum before and after school.
