Matching the State Standards at Green Gables Elementary

The percentage of Grade 4 students at Green Gables Elementary School meeting or exceeding state mathematics standards on the Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL) rose from 52% to 67% after the school adopted Everyday Mathematics. Green Gables Elementary, located in Federal Way, Washington and serving approximately 500 students in a unique multi-age learning environment, was the first school in its district to implement the program, chosen for its strong alignment with state standards and its emphasis on conceptual understanding, spiral learning, and mathematical reasoning; teachers also used flexible instructional groupings to meet students at their individual learning levels.
