Lapwai Students Excel in Mathematics

After adopting Everyday Mathematics with support from the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Foundation, Lapwai School District saw 100% of Grade 4 students score at the Proficient or Advanced levels on the Idaho Standards Achievement Test — with about 70% reaching Advanced, up substantially from 19% before implementation. The program's emphasis on conceptual understanding, real-world application, and higher-order thinking helped engage students and support learners of all abilities. Lapwai School District serves approximately 560 students on the Nez Perce Indian Reservation in north-central Idaho, where most elementary students are Native American.
