Kent School District Preparing All Students for Success in Mathematics

The percentage of Grade 4 students in Kent School District meeting or exceeding Washington state mathematics standards on the WASL rose from 38% to 68% after the district adopted Everyday Mathematics. Kent School District, serving approximately 27,000 students in the Seattle metropolitan area, implemented the program to support an increasingly diverse student population and strengthen standards-based mathematics instruction, emphasizing differentiated instruction, collaborative learning, ongoing professional development, and strategies that addressed a wide range of learning styles and language backgrounds.
