Florida District’s Math Scores Steadily Improve with Everyday Mathematics

Grade 3 and Grade 5 FCAT scores rose seven percentage points in the first year after Orange County Public Schools adopted Everyday Mathematics districtwide, and within several years 73% of Grade 3 students scored at or above proficiency, up from 59% before implementation — a result that earned the district the Everyday Mathematics Outstanding Achievement Award. Orange County Public Schools, one of the nation's largest school districts with more than 170,000 students, implemented the program across nearly all elementary schools to strengthen conceptual understanding, supporting teachers with extensive professional development and promoting inquiry-based learning and collaborative problem solving.
