Students in Glendale Unified School District consistently outperformed statewide averages on the California Standards Tests after adopting Everyday Mathematics, with 57% of Grade 3 students and 56% of Grade 6 students scoring at the Proficient or Advanced levels, compared with state averages of 48% and 35%, respectively. District leaders attribute the gains to the program's rigorous, spiral curriculum and its emphasis on conceptual understanding. Glendale Unified, which serves approximately 32,000 students in the Los Angeles area, selected Everyday Mathematics after an extensive review and pilot process focused on standards alignment, accessibility, and instructional quality, and supported implementation through ongoing professional development, hands-on learning, classroom games, and family engagement activities.
