Description

The What Works Clearinghouse (WWC) reviewed existing studies evaluating Open Court Reading (OCR). One study was a randomized controlled trial that met WWC standards without reservations, while another used a quasi-experimental design that met WWC standards with reservations. The two studies included 1,113 beginning readers in grades 1–3 across six states. The WWC considers the extent of evidence for OCR on reading skills to be small for two domains: general reading achievement and comprehension.
