Achieve3000 Literacy™ was studied in Glynn County School District, a public school system in Brunswick, Georgia, serving urban and suburban communities. The study focused on students in Grades 3–8 across 21 schools, including 4,378 participants. Subgroups included 157 English Language Learners (ELL), 641 students with disabilities (SWD), and 2,797 students qualifying for free/reduced-price lunch (FRL). Using a correlational design, the study examined the impact of Achieve3000 Literacy on Lexile growth and performance on the Georgia Milestones English Language Arts (ELA) test. Outcomes included Lexile growth measured via LevelSet assessments and achievement levels on the Georgia Milestones ELA test.
Students demonstrated an average Lexile growth of 130L, surpassing the expected growth of 70L. High-fidelity users, defined as those completing 40+ lessons with first-try scores of 75% or higher, achieved an average Lexile growth of 185L, over four times the expected 45L. On the Georgia Milestones ELA test, 27% of students improved by at least one achievement level, and proficiency (Level 3 and Level 4) increased from 39% to 46%. Subgroups also showed notable gains: ELL proficiency rose from 3% to 11%, SWD from 7% to 11%, and FRL from 25% to 31%. The study highlighted that greater program fidelity correlated with stronger outcomes, demonstrating the effectiveness of Achieve3000 Literacy in improving reading ability and state assessment performance for diverse student populations.
