Our instruction fuses knowledge building with comprehension building—giving students the tools to both understand what they’re reading and build a vast, interconnected network of knowledge. Crafted by experts Dr. Tim Shanahan and Dr. Douglas Fisher, our text-driven instructional pathway makes the process clear, efficient, and explicit.

Explicit Writing

Dr. Steve Graham and Dr. Karen Harris brought their expertise to our explicit, recursive writing pathway, leveraging the reading-writing connection to link each text to a variety of genre writing projects.

Multilingual Learner (MLL) Supports

Informed by renowned MLL scholars Dr. Diane August, Dr. Jana Echevarria, and Dr. Jeannette Mancilla-Martinez, our asset-based MLL supports deliver dedicated support at three levels—substantial, moderate, and minimal—to develop language skills and academic vocabulary.
