This session explains how an impromptu speech can serve as a comprehensive final assessment that authentically measures students’ ability to synthesize course skills under pressure. The session frames impromptu speaking as a meaningful way to “bring it all together,” capturing students’ real-time communication competence at the end of the course.
Zachary is the Basic Course Director and a faculty member in the Department of Communication Studies at Texas Christian University. Now in his second year as a Digital Faculty Consultant for McGraw Hill, he supports faculty nationwide in implementing Connect, adaptive learning tools, and evidence-based instructional strategies that enhance student engagement and success.
