    Dr. LaKisha Barrett is an Associate Professor of Biology and a catalyst for inspiration in the next generation of learners. Her teaching is grounded in experiential learning, evidence-based practices, and student-centered pedagogy, all anchored in a deep commitment to accessibility and inclusion. She creates spaces where every student feels seen, valued, and supported, cultivating a culture of care that extends beyond the classroom.
    Dr. Barrett empowers students and faculty alike to embrace their personal and cultural strengths as sources of resilience and excellence. Through intentional course design and innovative approaches, she sparks curiosity and ignites a passion for learning that propels students toward their highest potential.
    Her influence reaches beyond teaching: she is a leader in faculty development, belonging, and humanizing education.     Kat Hemsing, Sr. Director of Sharpen, McGraw Hill

    Kat Hemsing leads Sharpen, McGraw Hill’s mobile-native, academic success app. She co-founded this innovative solution in 2021 and has since scaled it to support hundreds of thousands of learners. Previously, Kat co-led corporate strategy, M&A, and various transformation initiatives across McGraw Hill’s global business. Prior to joining McGraw Hill, she consulted for Fortune 500 executives, nonprofit leaders, and government officials. Kat has also co-authored research on inter-city collaboration, recently published in Global Policy. Kat is a proud alumna of Miami-Dade County Public Schools and is actively involved in the Miami Tech community. She holds an MBA from Tuck and an MPA from Harvard.

  • Holly Hapke, Senior Lecturer, University of Kentucky -

    Holly Hapke, Senior Lecturer, University of Kentucky

    Holly Hapke is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management at the Gatton College of Business & Economics, University of Kentucky. She teaches hundreds of students in the principles of marketing course each semester. She has directed study abroad programs in Brazil, Germany, and Australia. Holly taught faculty development courses for Kufa University (Iraq). Prior to joining the faculty in 2007, Holly taught at Northwood University–Toyota Program Center (Georgetown, Kentucky), Georgetown College (Georgetown, Kentucky), Middle Tennessee State University (Murfreesboro, Tennessee), and Howard Payne University (Brownwood, Texas). Holly received her MBA from Tarleton State University, part of Texas A&M University System in Management and Marketing. In addition to teaching, she is working on her PhD from the University of Kentucky College of Education in Learning Design and Technology. She is a proud wife and mother of a teenage boy.
