McGraw-Hill and Magna Publications Launch Magna Campus to Assist in the Professional Development of Higher Education Faculty Nationwide

Flexible, LMS-ready professional development tool offers results-focused programs that empower institutions and educators to meet today's educational challenges

NEW YORK, Oct. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Professional development in the higher education industry is becoming increasingly important as shifts in student demographics, pedagogy and classroom technology usage mean that faculty require a new generation of training tools. To help educators respond effectively to these challenges, McGraw-Hill today announced the launch of Magna Campus, the first professional development product created through the collaboration between Magna Publications and the McGraw-Hill Learning Institute, the company's professional development unit designed to help faculty navigate new and emerging educational technologies.

Magna Campus is comprised of more than 4,000 resources including research-based white papers, interactive seminars, and timely newsletters created and delivered by thought leaders and experts in the field of faculty professional development. Available "on demand," topics provide deep coverage of subjects such as student engagement, collaboration, and even compliance-related issues. Faculty can access Magna Campus through MH Campus, a unique web portal that seamlessly integrates with all major learning management systems (LMSs) on campuses nationwide, or through an institution's own LMS system, allowing for easy, immediate access to the teaching and learning development resources they need, when they need them.

"Every year, we meet with thousands of faculty and college leaders who tell us that they are excited about the changes taking place in higher education, but they are looking for guidance about what these changes can mean to their specific situation," said Brian Kibby, president of McGraw-Hill Higher Education. "Our goal in partnering with Magna Publications and in launching Magna Campus is to provide the resources institutions and instructors need to develop personal familiarity and engagement with new technologies and practices that are designed to rejuvenate instruction and deliver stronger learning results and outcomes."

Also available through MH Campus is the 2014 Introduction to Teaching Resource Package, a series of all-in-one resource packages that help faculty development directors and department deans support new and returning instructors in both online and face-to-face classes. These resource packages are topically based and geared not only toward new faculty, but also to experienced faculty, with more extensive white papers and seminars. Full campus or departmental annual licenses are now available for both Magna Campus and the 2014 Introduction to Teaching Resource Package.

"We are excited about the opportunities Magna Campus represents in terms of providing a wide range of flexible, easy-to-use, professional development services that are digitally available," said Bill Haight, president, Magna Publications, Inc. "As a company, we are always looking for ways better serve the higher education community and our launch of the Magna Campus in partnership with the McGraw-Hill Learning Institute is the next step in our continued evolution."

The McGraw-Hill Learning Institute offers best practice-based training in areas such as teaching and learning in blended and online learning environments, flipped classrooms, teaching with technology, administration of learning environments, student engagement, course design and redesign, and assessments. The Learning Institute can also work with institutions to develop customized curriculum design and professional development resources and online or classroom-based training to specifically meet the needs of their faculty.
