DEI Best Place to Work For Disability Inclusion United States 100 2024 Award

COLUMBUS, Ohio (July 16, 2024) – McGraw Hill has been recognized as a “Best Place to Work for People with Disabilities” and earned a top score of 100% in 2024 by the Disability Equality Index® (DEI), the world’s most comprehensive benchmarking tool that measures disability inclusion and equality in the workplace. The DEI was launched in 2015 in the United States as a joint initiative of Disability:IN and The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) and is acknowledged today as the most robust disability inclusion assessment tool in business. McGraw Hill is one of just 542 corporations that utilized the DEI to benchmark their disability inclusion efforts this year.

"At McGraw Hill, we are deeply committed to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. An important component of that commitment is ensuring that both our workplace and the products we create are accessible to all our colleagues and the learners of all abilities we serve," said Simon Allen, CEO of McGraw Hill. "While we recognize there is always room for improvement, I am proud of the impact McGraw Hill is making to uphold an inclusive culture. We are honored to have been recognized for this work.”

The Disability Equality Index was originally created through support from the Disability Equality Index Advisory Committee, a diverse group of business leaders, policy experts and disability advocates. Now in its 10th year, the Disability Equality Index exists to help businesses make a positive impact on the unemployment/underemployment of people with disabilities.

McGraw Hill believes in supporting the needs of all learners, fostering a culture of belonging for its employees, and working with partners who share its commitment to accessibility, equity, inclusion, and diversity. To achieve this, the company:

  • Offers workplace disability benefits including hiring process, workspace, and hours adjustments; leave benefits with job protection; access to a variety of therapies; and a range of health insurance options.
  • Hosts mandatory accessibility training for all employees that focuses on how to understand diverse needs within the workplace.
  • Ensures that all new educational content and technology follows the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) version 2.1 AA guidelines and best practices.
