Creating a Culture That Fosters Active Learning

Facilitated by Angelo Kinicki and Denise Breaux Soignet Active learning is essential for building students’ career readiness and higher levels of learning. Successfully utilizing active learning in our teaching, however, requires the creation of a unique culture. The overall goal of this workshop is to identify characteristics of this culture and to discuss ways it can be created. After attending this workshop, you should be able to: 1. Explain the link between active learning and teaching/classroom culture. 2. Identify cultural characteristics needed to foster active learning. 3. Discuss multiple ways to create the desired culture.
