  1. What is “AI?”
    According to McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting firm, artificial intelligence is “a machine’s ability to perform the cognitive functions we usually associate with human minds.”
  2. What are the advantages and disadvantages of AI?
    The advantages of AI include (but are not limited to) reducing human error, automating repetitive tasks and processes, handling “Big Data,” facilitating quick decision-making, etc.

    The disadvantages of AI include (but are not limited to) a lack of transparency in decision-making, bias and discrimination, privacy concerns, ethical dilemmas, etc.
  3. Do you favor or oppose government regulation of AI? Explain your response.
    This is an opinion question, so student responses may vary. In your author’s opinion, not only should the government regulate AI, it is the government’s responsibility to do so. This is an issue that will impact everyone, and given the fact that government represents “the people,” it must address the impact that AI will have on the people. Obviously, this is easier said than done, given the pace at which technology progresses.
