Ask an ALEKS Implementation Manager: Tony St. John on Extensions

Have any burning ALEKS questions you want answered by our implementation team? If so, submit them here and we will include them in our newsletter next month.

Q: There was a power outage in my school’s town yesterday and I got a ton of emails from students who weren’t able to complete their assignment. How do I give an extension?

A: Thanks for reaching out! The easiest thing to do in this case is to use the “Exception” tool in ALEKS to give a Class-level extension to all students. I like doing this from the Assignments page: hover over the “Assignments” menu > manage “Assignments” > check the box next to the assignment or assignments you need to extend > then select “Exceptions” > using this tool you can provide an extension to “All Students” and set the new due date.

We recommend using this tool for all due-date adjustments once an assignment has opened.

Here is a video walking through the process!
