Direct Login and Manual Rostering
This article applies to districts that use Direct Login and Manual-Rostering. Direct Login means that teachers, students, and administrators log in at my.mheducation.com. Manual Rostering means that teachers manually redeem program content and roster their own classes.
If you are unsure which Access Service applies to your district, please see this article for more information.
This article walks Organization Administrators through when to use the Import Users/Rosters tool in your Admin Tools. Below are scenarios based on the academic year, but how you use the tool may vary.
New Year or New Semester
During the Year
End of Year
New Customers or New Accounts
New Year or New Semester
Option 1:
It is a new year or semester, and I need to add non-existing teacher and/or student accounts. I also want to create new classes and roster them for my teachers.
- Follow the steps in the Import New Users and Class Rosters article to add non-existing teacher and student accounts and roster classes using the Import Users/Rosters tool.
Option 2:
It is a new year or semester, and I need to add existing teacher and/or student accounts to new classes through the import.
- Follow the steps in the Update Existing Users and Class Rosters article to roster existing teacher and student accounts to new classes.
Option 3:
It is a new year or semester, and I need to add new teachers and/or students. My teachers will create their own classes and roster students.
- First, add new teachers and/or students using the Import Users/Rosters tool: Import New Users and Class Rosters. To create new accounts only, skip Step 7. If teachers will be creating their own classes and adding students to them, you do not need to enter the class information.
- You can then provide the teachers with the Getting Started for Teachers in Manual Rostering Districts instructions. This document will walk them through how to redeem content, create classes, and add students to their classes.
It is a new year, and I want to move a group of students from one school to another, such as moving 8th graders into a high school: How to Move Students Between Schools
During the Year
Throughout the year, I have a few new teacher or student accounts to add: How to Create Individual Teacher and Student Accounts
Throughout the year, I have a few teacher or student accounts that need edited. See sections Edit a Student Account and Edit a Teacher or Administrator Account: Manage Users for Manual Rostering Districts
End of Year
It is the end of the year, and I need to remove teachers who are no longer affiliated with the district. See section Drop Staff: Manage Users for Manual Rostering Districts
It is the end of the year, and I need to remove students who are no longer affiliated with the district. Fill out the McGraw Hill Clean-Up Request form and under Option 1: Student Account Management, choose Delete Selective Students. Our K-12 Technical Support team will send instructions on how to complete this process without sharing student PII (personally identifiable information).
New Customers or New Accounts
Option 1:
I am a new customer or creating all new accounts for the first time, and I want to create accounts for teachers and students. My teachers will create their own classes and roster students.
- First, add new teachers and students using the Import Users/Rosters tool: Import New Users and Class Rosters. To create accounts only, skip Step 7. If teachers will be creating their own classes and adding students to them, you do not need to enter the class information.
- You can then provide the teachers with the Getting Started for Teachers in Manual Rostering Districts instructions. This document will walk them through how to redeem content, create classes, and add students to their classes.
Option 2:
I am a new customer or creating all new accounts for the first time, and I want to create new accounts and create and roster classes for my teachers. Follow all steps: Import New Users and Class Rosters
