NEW YORK, NY – April 5, 2013 — McGraw-Hill has announced the appointment of Ronald Schlosser as executive chairman of its board of directors. Mr. Schlosser is a senior advisor to Apollo Global Management on investments in education, and he has extensive experience as a global business leader, achieving outstanding results at a variety of education and information companies.
“In recent months, Ronald Schlosser has provided invaluable counsel to me and our entire senior management team on a range of issues as we worked together to establish a standalone company,” said Buzz Waterhouse, president and chief executive officer of McGraw-Hill. “As chairman, he will work closely with me and our other senior leaders, providing guidance on industry best practices, performance improvement, product strategy, trends and opportunities in international markets, and more.”
Prior to Apollo, Mr. Schlosser was chairman and chief executive officer of Haights Cross Communications (HCC), an educational and library publishing company, where he led expansion of the company’s product lines especially with digital segments. Before HCC, he served as senior advisor to Providence Equity Partners, and was chairman of several of Providence’s education and information services companies. Mr. Schlosser spent 12 years at Thomson Corporation, including four years as chief executive officer of Thomson Learning Group (now Cengage Learning). Earlier, he held executive positions at Elsevier Science and McGraw-Hill.
