Just-in-time Review is not the same as the end-of-course Review Mode. For details on the experience when students complete their ALEKS Adventure course and enter Review mode, visit this article.
When students complete a Progress Knowledge Check on a previously-learned topic and struggle to recall the material (i.e. answer the questions incorrectly) they will be automatically guided to revisit the topic for a quick, targeted review. This just-in-time approach helps students refresh their understanding and reinforce key concepts right when they need it most, so they can stay on track and build confidence in their learning.
When guided to re-play a topic for just-in-time review, the student will be taken through the topic’s story, instruction, guided practice, and independent practice with feedback and scaffolding. The success criteria is less rigorous compared to when the topic was learned for the first time. During just-in-time review, students can successfully complete the topic by answering as few as two questions correctly in a row during independent practice.
If the student successfully completes the topic during just-in-time review:
- The topic remains Learned in teacher and student reports
- The Needs More Practice label will be removed from the topic
If the student does not successfully complete the topic during just-in-time review:
- The topic remains Learned and labeled Needs More Practice in teacher and student reports
- If the student returns to the topic later and completes the review, the Needs More Practice label will be removed.
