Q: Why is Geometer's Sketchpad (GSP) software being retired?
A: As of July 2019, McGraw Hill made the decision to retire Geometer’s Sketchpad software. The technology behind the program is no longer supported and has the potential to develop functionality issues. Customer satisfaction is at the forefront of the services McGraw-Hill provides and we cannot continue to provide a program for which we cannot maintain an effective, engaging, and efficient user experience.
Q: What else can be used in place of Geometer’s Sketchpad (GSP) software?
A: Development planning is ongoing, but a specific replacement is not available currently. Any future releases of Geometer’s Sketchpad will be announced at mheducation.com.
Q: Can I continue to use the Geometer’s Sketchpad (GSP) software I have installed?
A: Any installed version of GSP software can continue to be used. However, no additional software updates are planned, so it could be possible that functionality or access could change or decay over time.
Q: Will Geometer's Sketchpad (GSP) and associated files be compatible with future Windows or Mac operating systems updates?
A: McGraw-Hill is unable to predict operating system incompatibility. There are no additional software updates planned, so it could be possible that functionality or access could decay over time.
Q: What are McGraw-Hill’s plans for support?
A: McGraw-Hill will no longer provide support or short-term access for GSP after June 30, 2020. Existing license holders may continue to use their licenses for as long as their systems support them.
