All versions of ConnectED Mobile 1.3 or lower require that the app be active and undisturbed to complete the book download. Exiting (or backgrounding) the app by pressing the home button while the book is downloading will cause the download to fail. The app MUST be allowed to complete the download before any other activity with the iPad can take place.
Version 1.4 (posted Aug 25 2013) introduced background downloading, which allows downloads to take place without blocking the User Interface. Downloads in progress when the app is exited (backgrounded) will be paused and automatically resumed once the app is active again. The app must still be active for the download to complete.
