Achieve3000 Literacy provides lesson collections that include culturally relevant fiction, nonfiction, and poetry to engage students in reading. Lessons are differentiated to 12 levels in English and eight in Spanish, ensuring that lessons are just right for each student's reading ability.

Generally, students will access lessons assigned by their teachers. Most often, students will work during school hours to complete the assignments created by their teachers. Teachers may have students work independently on assignments or may work with the whole class or small groups of students, based on the instructional plan in place.

Students also have the opportunity to search the lesson database for topics of interest, whether working at school or at home. The local school district can customize the availability of lesson topics to align with any current curriculum and instructional guidelines.

Each lesson follows our proven literacy routine, which allows students to read articles at their just-right reading level. The variety of lessons provides opportunities for students to explore and engage with the lesson content. Lessons can include discussion questions, reading comprehension questions, videos, opportunities to state and support opinions, and practice creating written responses.

When engaging with lessons, students practice skills such as:

  • Activating prior knowledge
  • Expressing and defending opinions informally
  • Completing an activity to check comprehension
  • Close reading and citing evidence
  • Producing academic language in writing

Lessons are grouped into collections, organized by a common theme or topic. While there are a variety of lesson collections available to teachers, some of the most commonly assigned are:

Kids' Channel (Elementary): A collection of lessons designed to capture the attention of elementary-age students. With a goal of fostering a love of reading, this collection contains precision differentiated, informational texts focused on high interest topics. The themes addressed in this collection are fun and engaging for this age group.

Fiction: Original, episodic stories in English and Spanish with creative storylines spread across episodes. Each episode is written with a cliffhanger ending designed to engage students and spark a joy of reading. The stories in this collection come from a variety of genres, including action, adventure, fantasy, science fiction, mystery, and suspense.

News: High-interest, evergreen feature articles in English and Spanish that are appropriate for students in grades 1–13.

Poetry (Middle School/English Only): An interactive series of poems told through compelling stories by author Sir Rhymesalot. Lessons include colorful illustrations and text features to engage students and boost reading comprehension. The collection is designed to build phonemic awareness, vocabulary, fluency, and language expression through poetry.

The Scoop (Secondary): STEAM-related contemporary articles for grades 6–13 that accelerate literacy through collaborative conversation in the classroom. Discussion questions after each article contribute to lively conversations about the article’s topic.

Teen Channel (Secondary): A focus on diverse, culturally responsive topics and trends tailored to the interests and needs of middle and high school students. Available in English and Spanish, these lessons encourage conversation and promote meaningful class discussion on subjects that impact teens and challenge them to think about their place in the world. Topics include non-traditional career paths, profiles of outstanding role models in entertainment, sports, and STEAM, social justice issues, human rights, cultural diversity and inclusion, and much more.

WordStudio (Secondary/English Only): A dynamic intervention tool designed to support secondary students in grades 6–12 in building foundational literacy skills. These lessons are video-based and include a teacher-led video with both guided and independent practice activities to reinforce the skills presented in the lesson.

Additional reading outside of school is always encouraged! The more children read, the stronger their skills become! And, because everything in Achieve3000 Literacy is provided at your child's precise reading level, they will be able to read successfully without assistance.
