You now have the flexibility to create your own questions in a variety of formats with the new easy-to-use authoring tool.

Custom Question Authoring
The “My Questions” tool is designed to be easy to use and enables you to create custom questions that are assignable in a Homework, Test, or Quiz with other content types.

  • Question Authoring formats include Multiple Choice, Numeric Entry or Formula, Matching, and Free-Response.
  • Any of your questions can be made algorithmic or pooled with other content to ensure your students get the practice they need and academic integrity is maintained.
  • You’ll notice a variety of intuitive capabilities within the authoring tool, such as adding links and images to questions.

My Questions:

Selecting My Questions goes to the My Questions page. By default, every instructor has an Imported Questions folder and Sample Questions folder in the My Questions table.
On the My Questions page, instructors can:

  • View the Imported Questions folder that contains read-only questions other instructors at the same institution authored
  • View the Sample Questions folder to view read-only sample questions
  • View the instructor's own authored-questions
  • Create new authored-questions and new folders and subfolders to organize authored-questions
  • Search authored-questions and folders within the entire My Questions catalog
  • Manage authored-questions and folders through the actions bar or through the right side table menu
  • Move questions in and out of folders and move folders into subfolders

My Questions First Time Use:

When instructors access the My Questions feature for the first time and no questions or folders have been created yet, they see the My Questions page. The Imported Questions and Sample Questions folders are available for all instructors by default. The lightbulb icon displays a tooltip that is open by default the first time instructors land on the My Questions page. The text within the tooltip provides a link to the McGraw Hill resource library for help with creating and organizing custom questions in ALEKS.

Selecting the Resource Library link navigates to the Higher Ed tab on the McGraw Hill website at: https://www.mheducation.com/highered/support/aleks/assignments.html#authoring. Instructors are taken to the to the Tech Support Representatives section where they can contact a representative for help. The webpage also has instructions and videos on how to create and organize instructor-authored questions.
