SIMnet - System Requirements

Operating System

SIMnet is browser dependent, not operating system dependent.

Note for Projects: Students must complete their project with Office 2016 or newer and must complete using instructions for their OS: Mac for Macs, Windows for Windows. For more information visit here .

Limited projects are available for the browser-based Office Online. For more info visit here .

The Microsoft Access application does not exist for Macs so there are no Mac Access projects.

Popups

Usually popup windows can be really annoying. And we do solemnly swear not to abuse them. But we do need to use them to make sure your exams get properly recorded. Please disable your popup blocker for this site so we can do that. For help disabling the popup blocker for your browser, use the links below.

Window Size

The minimum requirements are 1010 pixels wide by 660 pixels high.

Javascript

Cookies

We require cookies to identify you to our servers. We don't share any cookie info with other sites.

Tablet Compatibility for SIMnet

Students should run the system requirements test on the tablet device. Also, tablets come in a variety of dimensions. It must also meet the minimum Window Size in the system requirements test.

The Projects where students do the assignment in the actual Microsoft Office application would require the tablet to support the installation of the full version of Office. See note regarding Office Online, here .

The pages are optimized for display at 1010 x 660 or higher.

The Course Manager does not require any browser plug-ins, except for the exam and lesson preview functions. Preview functions require allowing pop-ups from https://*.simnetonline.com.

The use of Microsoft

Office 365 is Microsoft’s subscription model for Office. It will allow you access to both the web app version and the full downloadable version. The Projects in SIMnet which require the use of the actual Office application must be completed on the full downloadable version.  Students should not use the web app version to complete the Projects as the web app does not have the full functionality of Office, unless the project specifically allows it:  https://help.simnetonline.com/students/assignments/projects/your-office-version#microsoft-office-in-your-browser

Trial versions of Office 365
 

The 180-day free trial of Office 365 that the student receives works exactly the same way as a paid version.
 

How does Office 365 work with Office 2016?

2016 projects are compatible with Office 365.
