Why is my eBook not launching from the bookshelf?
Identify reasons an eBook may not launch from the bookshelf and how to fix it.
Pop-up Blockers:
The most common reason users have trouble launching their eBook from the bookshelf is because they have a pop-up blocker enabled. See below for instructions on how to disable your pop-up blocker for your browser/device combination.
Disable popups on Safari on a Mac laptop or desktop:
- Select “Safari” > “Preferences“.
- Click on “Security” at the top of the window.
- Uncheck the box “Block pop-up windows” to disable this feature.
Add trusted sites in Safari (this allows pop-ups for the specific web page you are on):
- Make sure the site you want to add is currently open in Safari. In the box, you will see the URL of the site you have open.
- Select the drop-down menu to the right of that website and choose Allow to allow pop-ups only at this site
Disable popups on Safari on an iPad or iPhone:
- Launch Settings.
- Tap Safari.
- Under the General section, click the toggle next to Block Pop-ups to enable or disable the pop-up blocker. A green toggle indicates an enabled pop-up blocker.
Firefox:
- Click the Menu button (3 horizontal lines on top right) and select Settings.
- Select the Privacy & Security panel.
- Under the Permissions section, uncheck the box next to Block pop-up windows to disable the pop-up blocker altogether.
- A click on Exceptions… opens a dialog box with a list of sites that you want to allow to display pop-ups.
- Type in: mheducation.com and click on the Allow button
