Q: Where is the music?
There are two separate audio collections for Tonal Harmony:
- Core text audio
- In Connect, embedded in the SmartBook and eBook (streamed audio)

Q. How many eBooks are available in this Connect course?
There are three:
- SmartBook for core text with embedded audio and Interactive Drills
- A non-adaptive (new Reader) eBook for the Kostka, Tonal Harmony core text with embedded audio and interactive drills
- A non-adaptive (new Reader) eBook for the Tonal Harmony workbook with embedded audio Note: this workbook eBook cannot be printed. We recommend the print workbook + Connect AC package for $155 net: 1260197085 / 9781260197082

Q: Is the eBook workbook in Connect assignable?
No, the workbook is not assignable. It is primarily intended as an on-the-go reference and vehicle for the audio.
Q: Is a student OLC for Tonal Harmony? The 7 th edition had one.
No. We have moved all student-facing assets into the SmartBook/eBook.
Q: What are these new Interactive Drills?
There are just over 50 of them, and they are embedded throughout the core text SmartBook and eBook. They are designed to give students an opportunity to practice their skills. They are not assignable or graded, and students can access them whenever they want to practice. You can access them by clicking the “Interactive Drill” links in chapters, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 16, 17, 21, 22 and 23. The drill will open in a new tab. Here’s a sample:
Q: Is Finale notation software included or integrated in any way with Connect?
No. Finale template files are embedded in the eBook workbook with activities that require students to notate. These templates are also posted on the instructor OLC. The student downloads the Finale file, opens it in Finale software (purchased separately), and can turn it in to the instructor. These template files, formerly housed on the OLC, are embedded in the workbook for students who are required to buy Finale (outside of Connect). Some music programs require students to purchase electronic notation software. We do, however, offer an educational discount code in the inside front cover of every print workbook. This is in partnership with the makers of Finale software. It lowers the cost of Finale from $350 to $150.
- How long do students have access to Connect? Is there a loose leaf upgrade available? The subscription for this product is a 3-year duration. Students taking this course need access to their course materials for Music Theory I, Music Theory II, Music Theory III, etc.
Students can “upgrade” to a Connect Your Way loose leaf of the core text for $45 once they have purchased Connect.
