What is an ALEKS course product upgrade?
Learn what an ALEKS course product upgrade is and when it may be needed.
ALEKS course products are continually monitored and analyzed in various ways to make improvements. Course product improvements are intended to make students' progress smoother and more efficient, to enhance compatibility with textbooks or state standards, or to increase the value of the course product in a variety of ways. Many of these improvements do not disrupt the use of the product and do not require any action on the User's part. Others may require an entirely new version of the course product. When a new version is required, ALEKS announces that an "upgrade" of the course product is available.
How Course Product Upgrades Work
After the release date for a new course product, all newly created classes will use the new course product (i.e., the latest version). Classes created before the release date will not be changed.
After the release date of a new course product:
- All new classes will use the new course product (i.e., the latest version)
- All new Master Templates will use the new course product
- When duplicating a class using a previous course product version, the copy of the class will be upgraded to the new course product version
- All existing classes and Master Templates will not be changed
To upgrade a course to the latest course product:
- Administrators and instructors will have an Upgrade Now link on the Class Dashboard or Class Summary page
- A class can be upgraded to the latest version as long as the class end date has not passed and no student started an Initial Knowledge Check
To upgrade a Master Template to the latest course product:
- Administrators and instructors will have an Upgrade Now link on the Master Template Summary page
- A class can be upgraded to the latest version as long as the Master Template end date has not passed and no linked classes have been created
