StudySync’s Project Based Learning / Community Action Handbook will provide teachers with the resources they need to engage their students as active members of their communities by taking a project-based learning approach to each unit.

The handbook includes an alternate end-of-unit project for each unit that shifts the focus of its essential question to engage and empower students to become active members of their communities.

Project-based learning (PBL) encourages students to:

• explore a topic of interest or a real-world problem.
• conduct research.
• develop communication and collaboration skills.
• make connections between the curriculum and the world beyond the classroom.
• think critically.
• design creative solutions.
• publish work for an authentic audience.

PBL can span a week, month, or entire semester depending on the scope of the project. Teachers using StudySync can leverage several aspects of the program to enrich the PBL experience in their classroom by providing individualized skill development and support as students make progress on a project.
