SSO applies to districts that use an SSO portal, district website, or Learning Management System (LMS) to access McGraw Hill digital programs, and Direct Login means that teachers, students, and administrators log in at my.mheducation.com. Auto-Rostering means that account creation, class setup, and roster management are automated through a process handled by your district.

You can pause syncing data to any app using App Sync Pause. This allows currently shared users to maintain stable access during transitions in SIS data (for example, during summer school or annual rollover). Disabling the pause will make the most current data in Clever available to the app.

Frequently Asked Questions
Turn on App Sync Pause
Turn off App Sync Pause

When the app sync is paused:
  • All users shared prior to enabling can continue to use the app.
  • Changes in your Clever data, including custom data, will not be reflected in the app.
  • Sharing settings can be edited, but the resulting data changes will not take effect until the app sync is unpaused.

This is not to be confused with an SIS sync pause, which is best for when you want to prevent updated SIS data from flowing into Clever.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does pausing app sync hide the app or prevent logins?
A: Pausing the app sync does not hide the app nor prevent logins for those already shared with the app. If you’d like to hide the app or prevent logins, see Clever Portal: Hiding applications and disabling logins.

Q: Can I modify sharing settings while the sync is paused in the app?
A: You can modify sharing settings, but they won’t go into effect until the pause is turned off. Pausing the sync is helpful if you want to spend some time modifying sharing settings but don’t want to implement them just yet.

Q: How long does it take the sync pause to go into effect or be removed?
A: It takes ~5 minutes to turn the pause on. When you unpause, we’ll trigger a new Clever sync, which will apply any modified sharing permissions and send any modified data to the app.
