ALEKS - Enable JavaScript

Learn how to enable JavaScript in your browser so ALEKS activities and assessments function correctly.

JavaScript must be enabled in your browser in order to use ALEKS. Normally it is enabled and you do not need to do anything. If for any reason it is not enabled, here are the steps to activate it:
 

Chrome
1. Open a window in Google Chrome.
2. At the top right, click More and then Settings.
3. At the bottom of the page, click Advanced.
4. In the Privacy and Security section, select Site Settings.
5. Select JavaScript from the list.
6. On the next page, toggle on the Allowed (recommended) option.
7. Click the back arrow to go back to the settings page.

Microsoft Edge
1. Click on the 3 dots in the top-right corner of the browser window.
2. Click Settings.
3. Click the 3-bar menu button in the top-left.
4. Click Cookies and site permissions.
5. Scroll down to JavaScript and click on it.
6. To the right of Allowed (recommended) toggle the button so that it turns blue (on).

Firefox for PC
1. In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter.
2. Click the button promising to be careful.
3. In the search box above the list, type or paste javascript.
4. If the javascript.enabled preference is bolded and "user set" is set to false, double-click it to restore the default value of true.

Firefox for Macintosh
1. At the top of the Firefox window, on the menu bar, click on Firefox.
2. select Preferences.
3. In the Preferences window, select the Content panel.
4. Check the Enable JavaScript box, then close the window.

Safari
1. At the top of the Safari window, on the menu bar, click on Safari.
2. Select Preferences from the drop-down menu.
3. In the Preferences window, select the Security panel.
4. Check the Enable JavaScript box.
5. Close out of the window.

Ipad
1. Select the Settings icon on your home screen.
2. Scroll to find the menu item labeled Safari and select it.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the Safari menu and choose Advanced.
4. Find the option for enabling or disabling “JavaScript” for your Safari browser.
5. Slide the button to the right to turn on JavaScript on your Safari browser.
