Maps are moving from the preface to the end sheets where they are much easier to find

Kunst und Künstler: The chapter opening art now features an art viewing activity (Kunst und Künstler) where students develop their skills in reacting verbally to visual imagery in German.

The abundance of new photographs enhances the appeal of the materials for both instructors and students. Half of the chapter opening paintings have been replaced with new art by fresh new artists (more women and minority artists) offering provocative imagery and opportunities for description and discussion.

Filmclip: a brand-new feature. A film clip viewing activity, one per numbered chapter (12 chapters). The Filmclip feature box is imbedded within its corresponding Filmlektüre ("film reading") in each chapter.

The Video Program has been completely reshot with all-new interviews with young people in Leipzig. available exclusively on DVD and online.

The Kultur ... Landeskunde ... Informationen boxes have been updated and revised as appropriate to reflect changes since the sixth edition. Eight of the 30 KLI boxes have been entirely replaced with different, new topics that are culturally relevant and engaging.

Lektüre, Filmlektüre Feature : Eleven of the 24 readings have been replaced with new texts. Responding to user acclaim for the film synopsis readings, half of the readings in the book now deal with contemporary German films. Each numbered chapter has one film-synopsis text (Filmlektüre) as well as a second text in any variety of genres (Lektüre).

The latest official spelling reform guidelines have been implemented, with specific reference to Duden’s recommendations in the 25th edition of Die deutsche Rechtschreibung (Dudenverlag: Mannheim, 2009).

Musikszene: a brand-new song feature, one per chapter (14 chapters).

Videoecke: This has been completed rewritten to go with the newly filmed DVD. It has a new layout, is more colorful, and is a little longer with more activities.

Videoblick: The old Videoblick feature has been removed from each chapter (14 chapters) (definite) [and may be placed on OLC (tentative).

Workbook/Lab Manual (Arbeitsbuch) to be on CONNECT instead of Quia.
