New York (May 23, 2016) – McGraw-Hill, a learning science company, today announced the release of “Access Manager,” a rostering tool aligned to global education interoperability standards. Now certified for the IMS Global Learning Consortium’s OneRoster™ standard, Access Manager signals McGraw-Hill’s commitment to interoperability in ed tech and to helping schools more seamlessly integrate their digital systems.

Access Manager allows for the easy flow of roster data using the OneRoster specification into McGraw-Hill digital tools used in the district. The process of moving student rosters into digital tools can be time consuming and error prone due to limited tools and varying formats to input the data. When school districts and digital solutions support the OneRoster open standard, onboarding hurdles and complexities diminish due to the standardized onboarding process that then emerges. McGraw-Hill has adopted the OneRoster standard as the onboarding specification for all of its applications moving forward.

“Imagine if assembling the digital ecosystem in your school district or college was as easy as picking ed tech off of an à la carte menu and bringing it together seamlessly,” said Stephen Laster, Chief Digital Officer of McGraw-Hill. “Adopting IMS Global’s OneRoster standard is one step toward schools and the ed tech industry as a whole moving toward an elegant ecosystem.”

“As districts transition to digital, they need for their tools, apps and platforms to integrate seamlessly and easily via open standards,” said Dr. Rob Abel, CEO of IMS Global Learning Consortium. “We are very pleased that McGraw-Hill has obtained conformance certification for OneRoster and for their overall commitment to interoperability.”

What is OneRoster?

OneRoster is an IMS Global standard that focuses on how digital systems used in schools can capture and integrate student roster data. When districts and their partners adopt OneRoster standards, it becomes seamless for districts to manage digital accounts, as the data supported by OneRoster will simplify the set up and ongoing updates of class creation and user enrollment. OneRoster is a free open standard, with no cost for districts or their partners.
