About the Author

Larry D. King

Larry D. King received his Ph.D. from Indiana University, taught at Cornell University, and is currently Professor of Spanish at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has published several articles and books on Spanish and Portuguese language and linguistics. His research and teaching interests include the semantics and pragmatics of grammatical forms, language variation, second language acquisition, and the comparative cultures of Spain and Latin America. He teaches courses on Spanish linguistics and the cultural history of the Hispanic World, and for several years he directed the Spanish language program and conducted numerous workshops on the application of linguistics to the teaching of Spanish. He has served as Director of the UNC-CH Year at Sevilla Program, often in residence in Sevilla, and is interested in the development of innovative content for foreign academic programs and technology for teaching in the context of study abroad.
