Tim Johnson

Tim Johnson, PhD, recently finished his two-year Visiting Professorship at Trinity International University (IL). A graduate of Purdue University, he was a tenured Associate Professor at Judson University (IL) until the Sociology program was eliminated in 2017. His research on Active Older Adult volunteers reveals lives of service that have continued into "retirement" with a sense of "ikigai" or purpose to impact their communities. He is a broadly trained Sociologist who has expanded his concerns from Gerontology and Social Research to Race and Ethnicity, Social Problems, and the importance of the civil society. He sees teaching Intro to Sociology as a great way to develop students' Sociological Imagination, so they better serve their communities.
